How do I get started with Endgame Society?
Welcome. Here's the shortest path from "just signed up" to "playing your first thoughtful game".
Right after signup, you're shown a quick calibration so Dawn can match your level. Pick honestly — you'll have more fun and learn faster.
Head to Play, pick a difficulty, and start. Dawn will match the level you chose:
- Beginner ( 200 Elo) for total newcomers - Casual ( 400 Elo) once you know the rules - Intermediate ( 800 Elo) for confident club-level players
You can change level any time. See How does difficulty work? for the full ladder.
Open Puzzles. Solving tactics is the single fastest way to gain rating in real games. You'll start at a 1200 puzzle rating, which moves up or down based on your results.
Visit Daily Challenges — a short, curated set every day. It takes 5–10 minutes and counts toward your puzzle streak.
When you lose (you will, that's the point) tap Replay & Analyze on the game-over screen. Step through the moves, see the engine's evaluation, and ask Coach Dawn what went wrong.
