Why isn't the board or pieces loading?
Fix a chess board that will not load on Endgame Society. Cache, extensions, network, and supported browsers covered.
If the board is blank, frozen, or missing pieces, run through these steps in order. The first three fix the vast majority of cases.
A regular refresh sometimes reuses stale cached files.
- Windows / Linux : Ctrl + Shift + R - macOS : Cmd + Shift + R - iOS Safari : pull down to refresh, twice
This rules out browser extensions (especially ad blockers and privacy extensions) that occasionally block the WebAssembly engine or the WebSocket used for live games.
If the board loads in incognito, the culprit is an extension. Disable extensions one at a time on the Play page until you find the one breaking things.
Live games use a WebSocket connection. Some corporate, school, and hotel networks block it.
- Try mobile data (or a personal hotspot) for 30 seconds. If the board loads, your network is the issue — switch networks or ask your IT team to allow .endgamesociety.com and .supabase.co .

Older browsers may not support the WebAssembly features Dawn needs. Update or switch and the board should appear.
